Laura McKay founded Slope Design in 2015. Inspired by Laura's award-winning* 2013 Slope Desk, Slope Design embraces simplicity, minimalism, and the modernist industrial design principle of form ever following function. Intrigued by how people perceive, approach, and interact with objects, Laura focuses heavily on experimentation with materials and a multidisclipnary approach to her work, examining the journey between concept to final product from a different angle, ensuring the final works appear almost inevitable.
With a background in 3D Design and a masters degree in Multidisciplinary Innovation, Laura's interests span furniture, product design, fashion, branding, and more, led by an egalitarian desire to create beautiful, meaningful work for all to enjoy. Her pieces have been exhibited at the London Design Festival Designjunction, The Globe Gallery, Alnwick Gardens, and The Biscuit Factory.
Leigh Venus joined Slope Design as Chief Operations Officer in 2016. Working for over a decade in the culture and heritage sector, Leigh is also a museum manager and writer, working with Laura to manage the business and help curate the creation of exciting new work.
Their passion for creating products that enrich people's lives has placed human interaction at the heart of Slope Design, a new creative birthplace for beautifully functional work intended to delight.
